“The mesh prize funds projects that collectively benefit the Canadian Digital Industry”
The mesh prize is awarded annually to a project or a group of projects that seek to collectively improve the Canadian Digital Media Industry.
The prize seeks to fund projects that create new understanding, capabilities or tools that the digital media community can benefit from.
The prize recipient will receive $40,000 towards the successful completion of their project. Winners will be announced annually at the mesh conference.
Over the past 5 years the Canadian Digital Industry had been very successful in creating community. Unconferences like the various *camps, charity efforts like Hohoto and structured conferences like mesh have all benefited the collective community.
As we attended these events we meet individuals who had great ideas that needed more than community, they needed funding. There did not exist an industry supported source to fund interesting projects that could benefit the community.
The mesh prize seeks to be this source. If we want a better industry in Canada we need to not only commit our time, but also our resources.
